Is Your Water Quality Affected?

There have been repeated EPA announcements regarding "hydraulic fracturing," also known as "fracking," and the link between the activity and contamination of local water around where the fracking is happening. Since fracking commenced, additional water quality questions have come up in areas all over. This has created a demand for services from reputable water testing laboratories all over the country that process water quality test kits from households and businesses in mass numbers.

Unfortunately, the results from these water quality test kits have not been encouraging. One finding after another of various chemical components that affect the water quality have been discovered in places far and wide. This is true of the tests being done across the board, in households and businesses located in town after town. Fracking has become such a controversial topic that some countries have banned it, as has the state of Vermont. These bans are in place until there are other alternative methods that are proven to be cleaner, approved by the EPA and less impactful on the environment.

Many people do not understand what the problem with fracking is or why so many groups and people are up in arms about it and demanding broad ranging bans against it. Those who do not understand the fracking process only see that there are more jobs now in comparison to what there were without the new method of drilling for energy and that more energy is now accessible. The problem is how water and air quality are affected by fracking, a process of sending liquids deep under the earth to split up rocks and other formations so that the gas and oil underneath can be easily extracted. While the intent of companies involved in fracking would not be to cause any groundwater to become contaminated, the potential for contamination exists every time the process is done; whenever blasting takes place, there may be unexpected occurrences that no one planned for due to the power of the blast itself.

Whether you are right in the middle of an area where fracking is going on or it is happening three towns away, you need to take action to get water quality test kits so that you can check on the water quality in your own home. Many people have contaminated groundwater from the aftermath of drilling that they did not know occurred, and the dangers of fracking to water supplies may not even be fully known yet.

For your safety and that of your loved ones, don't take a risk. Get your water tested through water testing laboratories to see if your drinking water is contaminated or not. After this, you will know if you and your family are in danger every time you drink from the tap.
